Our commercial presence

The French Apidology Observatory (OFA) is an association, law 1901, non-profit, declared of general interest.

Apidology is the study of bee behavior, health techniques and breeding and selection techniques. Located in the Var, within the Sainte-Baume massif, the OFA works with its twenty employees, beekeepers and scientists, in favor of the repopulation of bees, in order to strengthen the pollination necessary to maintain agricultural production.

The OFA intervenes to respond to the impact of the disappearance of bees by considering the ecological and economic importance of this pollinator essential to maintaining biodiversity, with four priority actions:

  • The training of professional beekeepers since 2014 within its infrastructures in Sainte-Baume and from 2021 within the Bee Academy created in Avignon in partnership with ISEMA Business School.

  • The selection and breeding of queens and swarms and the performance testing of its experimental apiary made up of 2,000 bee colonies.

  • Applied scientific research focused on the study of the causes of bee mortality and the benefits of bee products on human health.

  • The selection and breeding of queens and swarms and the performance testing of its experimental apiary made up of 2,000 bee colonies.
